Dive Gear
When considering your next trip a good question to ask is, what dive gear will I need? The answer is completely dependent on where you are going and the conditions that you will be encountering. Water temperature, lighting, and duration of the dive are all factors that your should account for prior to leaving for your swim.
Water temperature is an important factor in determining what kind of dive gear to bring along with you on your excursion. It is useful to understand the temperature so you know what kind of wetsuit, or perhaps even drysuit to bring along with. If the water is warm enough, you may be able to get by with just a good set of swim trunks, but otherwise a suit is generally recommended as it helps to maintain a water barrier. The barrier insulates the colder ocean water away from your body by holding water close to your body and allowing your body temperature to keep it warm and therefore to ward away from the cold. The temperature is an important factor in the decision making process.
The lighting of your specific dive is also an important factor. The lighting determines the level of visibility. For twilight or sunset dives it is recommended that you bring with you a flashlight and a backup along with the rest of the proper dive gear. This will be ensure that your illuminating capacity is high which will cut down on the possibility of potential accidents with negative side effects.
